Alternative Approach for Modeling Material Interfaces in Fdtd
نویسندگان
چکیده
A simple alternative way to position dielectric materials in the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) Yee cell grid is proposed. Plane-wave illuminated spheres are used as examples to study the performance of the alternative method compared to the standard FDTD method. Although the performances are generally equally good, the alternative method may sometimes give significantly improved accuracy. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. High-order FDTD methods via derivative matching for Maxwell’s equations with material interfaces
This paper introduces a series of novel hierarchical implicit derivative matching methods to restore the accuracy of high-order finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) schemes of computational electromagnetics (CEM) with material interfaces in one (1D) and two spatial dimensions (2D). By making use of fictitious points, systematic approaches are proposed to locally enforce the physical jump condit...
متن کاملApplications of the nonlinear finite difference time domain NLFDTD method to pulse propagation in nonlinear media: Selffocusing and linearnonlinear interfaces
In an effort to meet an ever increasing demand for more accurate and realistic integrated photonics simulations, we have developed a multidimensional, nonlinear finite difference time domain (NL-FDTD) Maxwe11's equations olver. The NL-FDTD approach and its application to the modeling of the interaction of an ultrashort, optical pulsed Gaussian beam with a Kerr nonlinear material will be describ...
متن کاملBalancing accuracy against computation time: 3–D FDTD for nanophotonics device optimization
The finite–difference time–domain (FDTD) approach is now widely used to simulate the expected performance of photonic crystal, plasmonic, and other nanophotonic devices. Unfortunately, given the computational demands of full 3–D simulations, researchers can seldom bring this modeling tool to bear on more than a few isolated design points. Thus 3-D FDTD—as it stands now—is merely a verification ...
متن کاملFDTD Models for Complex Materials
Complex materials are of increasing interest in Finite-Difference Time-Domain modeling. For example, when the particle density becomes large, collisional fluid models of plasmas are an attractive alternative to particle in cell methods. Further, frequency dispersive meta-materials are of increasing interest. Thus, Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) models are derived for magnetized plasmas an...

This paper presents a novel implementation of an electromagnetically coupled patch antenna using air gap filled substrates to achieve the maximum bandwidth. We also propose an efficient modeling technique using the FDTD method which can substantially reduce the simulation cost for modeling the structure. The simulated results have been compared with measurement to show the broadband behavio...
